Superstar
The second week of Kindergarten is one of the most difficult times of
the year. They are just beginning to learn and adjust to a routine.
Their attention span only lasts about 5.3 minutes, and they are just
beginning to show their curious side which means they are coming out of
their shell which is good, but it also means they are coming out of
their shell. Every week we spotlight a student with being the
Superstar.
They are in charge of bringing special items from home and
showing them off to the class. Since it was the second week my
associate, Mrs. Peterson, was our Superstar. She had brought in some
special items and was showing them to the children and doing such an
awesome job showboating her special things. The students were extremely
interested and she called on them for comments and compliments. The
students were just learning what this meant, and one little boy raised
his hand and asked, What time is it?
That is one question I do not like hearing as a tacher. To me this means the child has:
no idea what I was just talking about,
was just trying to think of something to say,
they wonder when we are moving on,
and it doesn't matter that they don't even know how to tell time.
Mrs. Peterson, without even skipping a beat exclaimed," It's Superstar Time!"
This is one of the hundreds of reasons I love working with Mrs. Peterson!
