Mother's Day Activities
Below are some books to help with your Mother's Day activities.
The list of activities is below.
Pretty Flower Pots:
Using acrylic or puffy paints paints, decorate a small clay terracotta
pot. Butterflies, plants, or polka dots are nice, simple decorations.
Optional: fill the plant pot with potting soil and plant the seed of a
fast-growing flower (like marigolds) or put in a small plant.
Tissue Paper Flowers:
Cut a few pieces (about 4-6) of tissue paper about 8 x 10 inches (the
exact size doesn't matter). Put the paper in a pile and fold it like an
accordion. Tie the center of the folded paper with a green pipe cleaner
(or twist tie). Gently pull each piece of paper towards the top center
of the flower, separating each sheet of paper from the others (forming
the petals of the flower). You can add a pipe cleaner stem or try this
fun idea! Wrap a pen with green florist's tape and attach your flower
with a hot glue gun.
Fun Foam Frames:
Decide on a shape for your frame and draw it on a piece of foam. Cut a
piece of foam that is at least 1 inch larger than the photo on all
sides. Cut a display hole in the other piece of foam. This hole can be
any shape you like, just make sure that it is smaller than the entire
photo and is big enough to show the important parts of the photograph.
Put glue on the back of the frame. Cut a thick piece of paper for the
back of the frame and glue it on.
Necklace for Mom:
Children can bead a necklace for mom with real beads and fishing line.
Bath Salts
Fill a clean baby food jar with bath salts and decorate the lids with
plastic flowers and ribbon.
Hand shaped flowers:
Have children trace their hand onto a piece of paper. Then have the
child cut it out. Obtain a picture of the child to place in the middle
with glue. Have the child paint a Popsicle stick green. When the stick
is dry, glue or tape the hand shape on the stick to make hand shaped
flowers.
